A Note from Kyle...

Hi! 

I’m Kyle Parrish and I’m officially running for Congress in North Carolina's 5th District.  I am not typical.   

I am a first time candidate, at the age of 56, who is not independently wealthy or retired, nor am I a lawyer or solely interested in getting into congress to grandstand or gain power.  As a matter of fact, I am happy with my current job and will be happy to stay in it should I not win the election.  However, I am running, so let me tell you a little about myself and why...

• I’m a husband, married for 16 years to the most amazing woman I’ve ever met.
• I am a father of four great kids - three girls and one boy, ages 28 to 13.
• I’m a working stiff who gets up every day and goes to work, whether it’s from my home office or my employer's newly reopened facilities.
• After growing up in Virginia and eventually moving to Maine, I returned to live near family in the Triangle almost 10 years ago.
• I work in IT, have a degree in business with a focus on information systems, and a master's certificate in health policy.

• I mow my own lawn
• I roll my own trash to the curb
• I drive my kids to school
• I even do laundry, mostly so I can watch college football or basketball when it is on
• I love backpacking

So, you are probably thinking, "if everything is so great with that guy, why is he running?"  That is a great question.  

First off, I am running because no candidate should go unopposed, much less a 9 term fixture who does nothing to help the bulk of her constituents.  I am here to hold her accountable for her complete lack of action, and her actions that are, frankly, offensive.  No more free passes. 

Second, the citizens of the 5th deserve a representative who is fighting for ALL of them, from the smokies to Winston, not just those who don't need it anyway.

And last, but certainly not least, we face existential threats to our democracy, both across the country and within our state.  

• There was no fraud in 2020. 
• We do not need new voting laws. 
• Gerrymandering is voter suppression. 
• There is no "tyranny" that requires civil war.  

The legislation arising from the "Big Lie" is nothing more than an effort to subvert the future will/vote of the American people. To counter these threats, we need new ways of working together - across parties - until the problem is resolved.  Even the NC Republican Party Agrees -

So, while I am running and when I represent the 5th District, I will call out and confront the threats and the people who make them.  I will not tread lightly.  

Hopefully, by Nov 8, whether you’re Republican or Democrat, you’ll not only know who I am, but you’ll want to vote for me. Even if you don't want to vote for me, I am hoping you will continue to work with me to preserve our country and its Democratic institutions.

I am in this race to fight to deliver for the people of the 5th and to preserve our Democracy. Pure and simple. 

Those are THE issues at this point. 

I don’t expect you to agree with everything I think or say, but I would like you to get to know me and the way I think. I will be posting over the course of the run-up to the election, in all kinds of formats on multiple platforms, so you should have a great idea of who I am by election day.  Take some time to listen to me, then decide whether or not you want me representing you, regardless of your party.
